German messer from the mid to late 15th Century.
Of the form shown in Talhoffer, a short, stiff, fullered blade with a spine distally tapering from 5 down to 2mm, terminating in a clipped point. Small, fullered knuckle guard (Nagel) riveted through the cross guard. The pommel is formed of two profiled pieces of iron continuing the form of the Buffalo horn grip.
The scabbard has a timber core with a leather cover tooled in a 15thc style.
