This purse has been painstakingly copied from an example in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cloisters Collection.
The iron frame is composed of nearly 50 individual pieces held together with dovetail and mortice and tenon joins.
The leatherwork too has been meticulously reproduced.
This style of purse is shown in some artwork from the 15th and 16th Centuries, and there are several other surviving examples.
