Gross messer, based on an example dated to 1490 in the Hofjagd- und Rustkammer Vienna but with a different nagel.
Blade has a single fuller along the rear of each side, with a distal taper from 6 down to 2.5mm. Grip is fullered timber slabs with a leather covering. Under the grip the tang has been partially hollowed by forging.
