This spear head, completely forged from a single piece of spring steel, is of the massively long Bayonet or Rapin Type II. Dating from the late middle La Tene and extending into the late La Tene, 175 B.C. through to about the start of the Common Era. It has a long thing blade with very pronounced medial rib giving and almost + shaped cross section. This spear head based on a specific example from the sanctuary of Gournay-sur-Aronde in Northern France.
Total Length: 26, 3/4 inches. Width at widest point: 2 inches. Medial rib: 12mm thick at base of the blade. Weight: 500 g.
