Based on an example in the Art Institute of Chicago. Late fifteenth early sixteenth Century, possibly French.
Stiff square section blade with double hollow ground ricasso. The grip is double spirally carved, ebonised oak set with hand made gilt brass nails. The hollow, spiral fluted pommel cap and guard are both engraved gilt brass.
