Description

ID 683

Finds of this type of long ladies girdle with open hook buckle are incredibly rare. This girdle is made up of a brass open buckle and plate, 32 stamped plaques, and a folded sheet strap end. The buckle is done in the style of two Italian late 14th Century open buckles, and the plaques and strap end are from finds in the Museum of London Dress Accessories book, both dated 1350-1400.
It is all assembled on a strap of leather.
