Description A faithful reproduction of the 8th Century Anglo-Saxon helmet found in York. The skull is from heat treated 0.8mm spring steel. The cheek plates and nasal are edged with enclosing brass borders. There is a 6mm internal diameter riveted mail ventail attached via riveted brass rings. The hand carved and cast brass decoration is closely copied from the original helmet , with the repeated dragon motif and intertwined decoration on the nasal. The raised latin script in the brass cross reads IN NOMINE : DNI : NOSTRI : IHV : SCS : SPS : DI : ET : OMNIBVS : DECEMVS : AMEN: OSHERE : XPI
